Available in sustainably sourced Teak, Tamarind and Rosewood. All of our accessories are hand carved from waste offcuts left over from plantations in Indonesia. Each piece is unique. Your Pala Hairsticks arrive in fully recyclable packaging with a fabric sleeve to protect them whilst traveling.
Suited For Your Hair Type? : The Para Hair Sticks are suited for medium to longer hair that is in need of additional support. They are also a great choice if styling for a special occasion and want an alternative to bobby pins or plastic clips. Each one can be used singularly, or all together to give additional support to more ambitious styles. Inspired by Nature | Pala is known internationally as “Banda Nutmeg” and commonly used and traded as an essential spice and in traditional medicine. Recyclable Packaging : Your piece will arrive in a fully recyclable mailer bag with a recyclable box and protective fabric sleeve to keep it safe when traveling. The box is handmade from papaya fruit pulp and vegetable inks. Once used, you can place it in the food compost.
Avoid contact with water and using with wet hair.
Avoid heavy sideways pressure.
Every 6 months gently rub a cloth with olive oil to keep them in a good condition.
Keep scratch free whilst travelling using the fabric pouch.

Why roots?
Wood is only a renewable and eco-friendly material if it is consciously sourced. Tropical hardwoods in particular grow very slowly and in low densities, and regenerate poorly after logging. These species are often taken from forests in non-sustainable numbers, and illegal ways.
Searching for a way of sourcing wood sustainably, SAYA Designs came across Made & Ways, sculptors who dig up and recycle root wood from old commercial plantations all across Indonesia. The roots are left behind by loggers harvesting trees on large-scale production sites. They take hundreds of years to decompose and have little value for the soil.
By using this waste material we are having as little impact on the environment as possible.
